Extreme Dilute
Extreme Dilute (or ED) is another allelic mutation of the recessive c alleles on the C locus. Extreme dilute is represented by c^ec^e. Extreme dilute is not just one colour, instead it is a dilution of whatever gene it is paired with. For example, there is extreme dilute golden, extreme dilute black, extreme dilute rust, etc.
Extreme dilute turns all pigment to a shade of black/grey/white. Hamsters might also have a "nose smudge" of colour that is their original colour. For example, an ED golden may have a brown-ish nose smudge, an ED cinnamon will have an orange nose smudge. Similar to siamese/himalayan genes of other animals, ED causes points on the colder areas of the body, and is a temperature sensitive gene.
